Grampians Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC) provides short-term treatment and support in a residential setting for people experiencing mental illness in the Ballarat and Grampians region. The facility is located on Pleasant Street South in Ballarat and was a two-stage redevelopment of the Ballarat Health Services site, with a new build integrated into a heritage building.

The first stage of the project involved providing critical infrastructure, road access and fire services to allow the existing facilities on site to continue operations during the construction of the PARC.

The second stage involved construction of a 12- bedroom residential mental health facility with ensuites, lounge areas, meeting rooms, communal kitchen and dining area, laundry and courtyard area (including external landscaping).

Two historic buildings were partially retained and refurbished as part of this project. This included removing a brick wall to reinforce the structure and rebrick with the original heritage bricks.
As a mental health facility, there was requirement for anti-ligature hardware throughout. This included making sure there were no potential points for hanging or other self-harm. Extreme care was taken during the construction and quality assurance phases to achieve this.
