The project scope at the remote East Loddon P-12 College in Dingee, North Central Victoria modernised the college to provide students improved learning opportunities. It included demolition of an existing school building and construction of a new classroom block containing Arts, Science, Wood/Metal Workshops and Home Economics rooms. It also included general classrooms and landscaping.

The original tendered methodology involved maintaining access to several modular buildings that were still in use by the school. Nicholson Construction worked closely with school management to alter the project management plan and project methodology to relocate these portables early in the works. This innovation resulted in handover, approximately three months ahead of schedule.

Working with the Project’s Structural Engineer, the Nicholson Construction Design Manager redesigned the foundation slab for the new science and technology building, selecting a suspended slab over screw piles rather than the original strip footing, encapsuling latent contaminated material discovered onsite and offering a value for money solution to the client.

Affectionately referred to as the “school in the paddock”, we were delighted deliver this upgrade and modernisation for the rural school community.
