Construction on the new Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Town Centre Library & Community Hub commenced in August 2022. The 2,500 sqm library is a 5 Star Green Star© rated community services facility built by Nicholson Construction for the City of Greater Geelong.

This iconic building is a state-of-the-art, environmentally sensitive, creative, technologically enabled space, based on the needs and aspirations of the growing Armstrong Creek community. Along with a collection of 40,000 books and resources, the library offers dedicated multi-purpose meeting spaces on level one and creative spaces and bookable co-working amenities on level two. The ground floor serves as the civic interface with direct access to the external terraces and the town centre.

A key aspect of the construction was the involvement and oversight of the structural steel and concrete by Nicholson Construction’s in-house Design Management team, crucial in ensuring all aspects of the slab pours, steel reinforcement, steel structure and precast specifically met all safety, quality and environmental standards.

This engineering input, coupled with a highly experienced project delivery team, ensured construction continued to timelines during a difficult time in the commercial construction industry post COVID-19.

With sound leadership, and proactive management of the design coordination process, the building exceeded Buchan’s and City of Greater Geelong’s design intent as it cements its place as a key local community facility.
